Get Ready for the New Year!
Welcome to the Monday Morning Wake-Up Call. I hope you had a fun and
relaxing week with family and friends. It’s the last week of the year!
Yes, New Year's Eve is almost here. Time to reflect on the past 12
months, break out the notebook, and start writing. The New Year is the
perfect time to think, plan, dream and motivate yourself to accomplish
things you may have never thought possible. You might even make a few
resolutions (and promise to follow through with them this year!).
So pour yourself a glass of champagne, and don’t let the fact that it’s
still December stop you. Read this month’s Words of Wisdom, and prepare
to be inspired!
Something to Think About
Yes, it really is a new year. Time to plan for the next 12 months. Use
the advice and wisdom you gained in the past year as your guide.
Weekly Activity
Each year on New Year’s Day, I carve out some time to write personal
goals for the upcoming year. I crawl into my favorite chair or sit by the
fireplace and dream of the year ahead. Here’s a great quote by Sarah
Breathnach that suggests that you also carve some time on January 1 to
sit, dream and imagine all that is possible:
“New Year's Day. A fresh start. A new chapter in life waiting to be
written. New questions to be asked, embraced and loved. Answers to be
discovered and then lived in this transformative year of delight and
self-discovery. Today, carve out a quiet interlude for yourself in which
to dream, pen in hand. Only dreams give birth to change.”
Words of Wisdom
“Your success and happiness lies in you. Resolve to keep happy, and your
joy and you shall form an invincible host against difficulties.” – Helen
Keller
“Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year.” –
Ralph Waldo Emerson
“The new year stands before us, like a chapter in a book, waiting to be
written. We can help write that story by setting goals.” – Melody Beattie
“Year's end is neither an end nor a beginning but a going on, with all
the wisdom that experience can instill in us.” – Hal Borland
“I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes. Because if you are
making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things,
learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your
world. You're doing things you've never done before, and more
importantly, you're Doing Something. So that's my wish for you, and all
of us, and my wish for myself. Make New Mistakes. Make glorious, amazing
mistakes. Make mistakes nobody's ever made before. Don't freeze, don't
stop, don't worry that it isn't good enough, or it isn't perfect,
whatever it is: art, or love, or work or family or life. Whatever it is
you're scared of doing, Do it. Make your mistakes, next year and
forever.” – Neil Gaiman
