Are You Investing in Yourself?
Good morning to you! This week we finish up our focus on a very important element of all successful people. Top entrepreneurs buy and read business books, magazines, reports, journals, newsletters, websites and industry publications, knowing that these resources will improve their understanding of business and marketing functions and skills. They join business associations and clubs, and they network with other skilled business people to learn their secrets of success and help define their own goals and objectives. Top entrepreneurs attend business and marketing seminars, workshops and training courses, even if they have already mastered the subject matter of the event. They do this because they know that education is an ongoing process. There are usually ways to do things better, in less time, with less effort. In short, top entrepreneurs never stop investing in the best, most powerful and most effective business and marketing tool at their immediate disposal: themselves.

Something to Think About

Why do the best baseball players go to spring training every year to work on basics? Why do the best agents go to all of the conventions? Because the best are always looking for ways to get better, be more efficient or just keep it fun! Top agents say that they invest 10% of their income each year in education, designations, seminars, books and publications. Are you investing in you?

Weekly Challenge
Most of us have just completed our tax returns. What percentage did you invest in you? Take a few moments this week to think about how and what you will do throughout the rest of this year to invest in yourself and your business. Perhaps it’s a designation that will open new doors. Maybe it’s a convention that can be extended to a vacation at the same time. Join a book club or an online book summary club such as Summary: http://www.summary.com/. Choose at least three things that you can implement this year that will allow you to invest in yourself and your future.

Words of Wisdom
“If you want to be truly successful, invest in yourself to get the knowledge you need to find your unique factor. When you find it and focus on it and persevere, your success will blossom.” – Sydney Madwed

“Take time to gather up the past so that you will be able to draw from your experience and invest them in the future.” – Jim Rohn

“Investing in yourself is the best investment you will ever make. It will not only improve your life, it will improve the lives of all those around you.” - Robin S. Sharma

“Education is not an expense, but it is the capital ready to be invested. The return depends on the wisdom you gained.” – Debasish Mridha

“Plan the number of hours each day you’ll spend on your dreams, the kind of people you’ll love to connect with, the amount of capital you’ll want to invest and the sources of help you are required to get. Make a plan.” – Israelmore Ayivor

Developing Millionaire Mindsets

Good morning. This week, we continue the series on the millionaire mindset. What is it that sets millionaires apart from those who want to be millionaires? In his book Secrets of the Millionaire Mind: Mastering the Inner Game of Wealth, T. Harv Eker put together a list called the “Wealth File” that shows different belief patterns:

1. Rich people believe “I create my life.” Poor people believe “Life happens to me.”
2. Rich people play the money game to win. Poor people play the money game to not lose.
3. Rich people are committed to being rich. Poor people want to be rich.
4. Rich people think big. Poor people think small.
5. Rich people focus on opportunities. Poor people focus on obstacles.
6. Rich people admire other rich and successful people. Poor people resent rich and successful people.
7. Rich people associate with positive, successful people. Poor people associate with negative or unsuccessful people.
8. Rich people are willing to promote themselves and their value. Poor people think negatively about selling and promotion.
9. Rich people are bigger than their problems. Poor people are smaller than their problems.
10. Rich people are excellent receivers. Poor people are poor receivers.
11. Rich people choose to get paid based on results. Poor people choose to get paid based on time.
12. Rich people think “both.” Poor people think “either/or.”
13. Rich people focus on their net worth. Poor people focus on their working income.
14. Rich people manage their money well. Poor people mismanage their money well.
15. Rich people have their money work hard for them. Poor people work hard for their money.
16. Rich people act in spite of fear. Poor people let fear stop them.
17. Rich people constantly learn and grow. Poor people think they already know.

As you can see, risk plays a big role in acquiring wealth. Are you willing to take a risk to increase your financial position? Something to think about! If you have questions or need anything at all, I hope you’ll give me a call. My passion is helping agents just like you get to the next level. Have a great week!

Something to Think About
The term “rich” can mean different things to different people. Rich is not just about how much money you have; it also applies to your attitude. Those who consider themselves blessed and grateful have the same mindset. Read the list again, and see if you agree.

Weekly Challenge
We all have areas in our lives that we would like to improve. In looking at the list above, which area of your life needs attention? This week, think like a “rich person” in that area of your life, and see what happens.

Words of Wisdom
“The starting point of all achievement is DESIRE. Keep this constantly in mind. Weak desire brings weak results, just as a small fire makes a small amount of heat.” – Napoleon Hill

“Learning is the beginning of wealth. Learning is the beginning of health. Learning is the beginning of spirituality. Searching and learning is where the miracle process all begins.”
– Jim Rohn

“You are the master of your destiny. You can influence, direct and control your own environment. You can make your life what you want it to be.” – Napoleon Hill

“Wealth consists not in having great possessions, but in having few wants.” – Epictetus

“Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful.” – Albert Schweitzer

Brain Training
Good morning! This month, the focus is on YOU. How do you earn more while keeping your life in balance? That’s what we’re going to explore – starting with this: Did you know that research shows we can consciously keep about seven things in our head at a time?

Functions such as your heartbeat, the air temperature and the position of your feet are on autopilot, allowing you to focus on more important things. This is a very useful feature of your mind. Yet many people consciously see the same seven things that they have noticed in the past, which means that they miss the 8th, 9th and 10th things that could change their lives. So what you have to do is tell your mind to look for something new and different instead of what you already know. Make sense?

Now imagine your brain as a control tower on a battleship in the middle of the ocean. Instead of one radar system, you have dozens. You have the happiness radar, the misery radar, the problem radar, the failure radar, the beauty radar, the peace radar and the self-critical radar, to name a few. You can choose which radar you want to turn on and which ones you want to turn off.

The happiness radar is simple to activate. Just write “What is another reason to be happy NOW?” on an index card, and read it a few times a day. While this may seem simple, it’s linguistically elegant because it presupposes that there is already another reason to be happy. (Now your brain is finding two things, not just one.) And it has an embedded command to be happy right now – not in the future… now!

Asking the question is part one. Finding the answer is part two. You must allocate 60 seconds to answer this question 5-12 times a day, every day. This mental process must become a habit in order to rewire your brain and create new, stronger neural pathways each time. Do this every day for 21 days, and you will be happier.

Need help? Give me a call. I’m always available to help agents get the MOST from their lives and their careers! Have a great day!

Something to Think About
How many things would you like to change in your life? Could it really be that simple? Are you willing to invest 21 days to find out? You can start with “happy” and then move on to questions such as, “How can I accomplish more in less time?”

Weekly Challenge
Let’s apply this lesson to your real estate career. Decide on a question, write it on 10 index cards or sticky notes, and put them where you will see them a few times a day. It could be your computer monitor, the dashboard of your car, your desk drawer or your bathroom mirror. You don’t have to work on the question or the solution – just see it… read it… let it sit in your mind and percolate. Here are some examples: How can I double my income? How can I make a million dollars? How can I experience more freedom while earning money? Read your question at least five times a day. You can use the same question for a day, a month or even a year. Another activity is to look for different ways to do what you already do. Think outside the box. Or perhaps contact someone who’s very successful and ask for a few tips on how he/she achieved such success.

Words of Wisdom

– Mario Testino
