What You Think About, You Bring About
In the book, The Power of Positive Thinking, by Norman Vincent Peale, we learn that the power of our thoughts can shape our world and impact our future. It was originally published in 1952 but is just as true and applicable today as it was then, if not more so.  It was one of the early books written on the power of our thoughts and how we can choose to have a better life, by believing that we can. Have you ever known someone who has a “sky is falling” mentality, and oddly enough, their sky usually is falling? They believe that nothing will work out for them, and it rarely does. Or perhaps you know someone who believes that they can achieve anything, and they often do! There’s a lot of recent scientific evidence that proves that we really can improve our lives by changing our thoughts.  Quantum physics is the result of our curiosity about the universe, our thoughts, and our desire to understand how it works on a scientific level. What quantum physics is uncovering is that one’s perceptions and beliefs about reality actually alter reality to fit that perspective. This is huge!

For example, scientists have performed experiments attempting to discover whether the basic building blocks of our universe are either particles or waves. They argued and argued as each scientist obtained different results whenever the experiment was performed, and eventually they took a step back and began experimenting in a new way. They discovered that the fundamental building blocks became waves or particles depending on the expectations of the scientist doing the experimenting. If the scientist expected them to be particles, that’s what they appeared as; if the scientist expected them to be waves, that’s how they appeared. Wow!

Something to Think About
People continue to believe that their reality is the way it is because of something beyond their control when, in fact, their reality is the way it is because of the specific way they expect it to be.  Kind of funny huh?  This explains why the most successful individuals place so much importance on their minds. They realize that they create their own reality by their beliefs and so they throw their full efforts into cultivating a mindset that inevitably leads them to the phenomenal success they enjoy. While the average person forever blames people and circumstances for their failures, the successful individual always looks within for the source of both achievement and failure. I have but one question for you: If your success in life is almost entirely a result of how you use your mind, how much time are you devoting to developing it?  Answer: Probably not enough.

Weekly Activity:
This week, spend time each day developing your mind and changing your thoughts.

Today…
How was your weekend? Was it great? I hope so, but if not, let’s make it a great week! I came across a poem by Ralph Marston that says it all. Enjoy!
Today is already beautiful and full of promise. Your job is to make it great.
There is already abundance in every direction. Your job is to make something valuable out of it.
Today, you’ve been given so very much. Your job is to give it meaning.
Choose today to make fewer judgments and to make more joy. Choose today to stop second guessing your intuition and to live the richness of your authentic purpose.
You are standing right in the middle of a whole universe that’s filled with great possibilities. Let yourself feel the immensity of that opportunity, then step forward and do something wonderful with it.
Your job today is to add new, meaningful experiences to the story of life. So, get going, enjoy the challenges and the magnificent rewards your efforts will bring.

Something to Think About:
This week’s message sounds simple to implement, doesn’t it? It is!

Weekly Activity:
There are six suggestions in the poem above. Apply one each day, or pick your favorite and apply it each day this week.

Words of Wisdom:
Make it a habit to tell people thank you. To express your appreciation, sincerely and without the expectation of anything in return. Truly appreciate those around you, and you'll soon find many others around you. Truly appreciate life, and you'll find that you have more of it. - Ralph Marston
You've done it before and you can do it now. See the positive possibilities. Redirect the substantial energy of your frustration and turn it into positive, effective, unstoppable determination. - Ralph Marston
Concern yourself more with accepting responsibility than with assigning blame. Let the possibilities inspire you more than the obstacles discourage you. - Ralph Marston
Your destiny is to fulfill those things upon which you focus most intently. So, choose to keep your focus on that which is truly magnificent, beautiful, uplifting and joyful. Your life is always moving toward something. - Ralph Marston
There are plenty of difficult obstacles in your path. Don't allow yourself to become one of them. - Ralph Marston

Smile Reminder
Good morning. I hope it was an amazing weekend filled with smiles. Today, I wanted to give you a little reminder to smile. Smile to yourself. Smile at others. Smile at everyone you meet!

A Smile
Author Unknown
A smile costs nothing but gives much.
It takes but a moment, but the memory of it usually lasts forever.
None are so rich that can get along without it.
And none are so poor but that can be made rich by it.
It enriches those who receive, without making poor those who give.
It creates sunshine in the home,
Fosters good will in business,
And is the best antidote for trouble.
And yet it cannot be begged, borrowed, or stolen, for it is of no value
unless it is given away.
Some people are too busy to give you a smile.
Give them one of yours.
For the good Lord knows that no one needs a smile so badly
as he or she who has no more smiles left to give.

Something to Think About
A smile is free, but has so much value to those who receive it!

Weekly Activity:
Smile at everyone you pass, and everyone you meet. Smile at your family each morning when they wake up. Encourage them to pass along the smiles. See how much fun you have this week!

Words of Wisdom:
Let us always meet each other with a smile, for the smile is the beginning of love. - Mother Teresa
Let my soul smile through my heart and my heart smile through my eyes, that I may scatter rich smiles in sad hearts. -Paramahansa Yogananda
Your smile will give you a positive countenance that will make people feel comfortable around you. - Les Brown
A smile is a curve that sets everything straight. - Phyllis Diller
If you have only one smile in you give it to the people you love. - Maya Angelou

Together We’re Better
An anthropologist proposed a game to the kids in an African tribe. He put a basket full of fruit near a tree and told the kids that whoever got there first won the sweet fruits. When he told them to run they all took each other’s hands and ran together, then sat together enjoying their treats. When he asked them why they had run like that as one could have had all the fruits for himself they said: ''UBUNTU, how can one of us be happy if all the other ones are sad?''
'UBUNTU' in the Xhosa culture means: "I am because we are". It embraces the idea that humans cannot exist in isolation. We depend on connection, community, and caring — simply, we cannot be without each other.  As South African social rights activist and Archbishop Desmond Tutu explained, “My humanity is bound up in yours, for we can only be human together.” He understands that the potential of human beings working collectively to achieve goals is infinitely greater than the potential of any individual.
As individuals, we are equipped with particular talents and strengths. Though it is natural for us to want to use these for our own self-progression and success, if we use these qualities to better our community, we reap both personal and societal benefits. We do not have to sacrifice personal success for the community’s success, but we must strike a balance between the two.

Something to Think About
To ask everyone to practice Ubuntu seems like an unrealistic feat. But we can start by asking ourselves this: “What if what you want to be will only come about when you ensure that others get to be that as well? And what if all of humanity was on your team, working toward your good?”

Weekly Activity:
What can you do this week to actively help someone else achieve what they want?
